The Dawning

Introduction

The Dawning is an event, available to all players with Rise of Iron, that starts on the December 13, 2016 and ends on January 3, 2017. The Dawning will introduce the return of Sparrow Racing League and Strike Scoring into the World of Destiny. A new Record book will become available for the owners of Rise of Iron to complete. Additionally, Destiny players will earn Festive Rewards and deliver a season of healthy competition to The Tower.

Information

• The Dawning Update will be LIVE from the 13th December 2016 and will end 3rd of January 2017.
• The Update is FREE and the new Record book is also FREE
• Sparrow Racing returns - Strike Scoring added
• The record book is split in two - 1 Page for SRL, 1 Page for Strike Scoring
• 2015 Sparrow Racing Book CAN BE completed this time around
• Destiny: Rise of Iron players will receive a free gift at reset during each of the three weeks of The Dawning – check in with the Postmaster to collect these minor goodies.
• Skeleton Key Drop Rates to be INCREASED
• Once the event ends, Sparrow Racing will be added to Destiny Private Matches
• Strike Scoring will also remain following the end of the Event
• Players who do not yet own Destiny: Rise of Iron will only have access to the original tracks, though – just as they cannot access new multiplayer maps added with Destiny: Rise of Iron.

Competitive Spirit Record Book is a Record Book introduced in The Dawning event. It has 2 pages: one for Sparrow Racing and another one for new Strikes.

Players can acquire the Record Book from Amanda Holliday in The Tower.

The ‘Tags’ (Amanda, Xur, Saladin) are used to open up the BIG GIFTS which are found at the entrance of the old Iron Banner location in the Tower (Just behind the Bounty Robot) Saladin and Amanda Gift Boxes may be opened at any time after receiving their Tags from the Competitive Spirit Record Book, the Xûr Gift Box may only be opened after Xûr has appeared in either the Tower or the Vestian Outpost.

Introduction

Sparrow Racing League (The Dawning) is a returning playlist activity where players race in the Crucible to earn exclusive rewards. This activity introduces new and returning Quests, Bounties, tracks, and rewards, which are available only until the end of The Dawning on January 3rd, 2017 at 01:00 AM Pacific Time. Quests and Bounties for Sparrow Racing can be received from Amanda Holliday in the Tower Hangar.

• Speed Kills Limited Availability Quest

With the return of Sparrow Racing, all Destiny: Rise of Iron players are invited to complete the "Speed Kills" Exclusive Quest, which may only be obtained during The Dawning. Once the Quest has been received from Amanda Holliday in the Tower, it may be completed after The Dawning concludes on January 3rd, 2017 at 01:00 AM Pacific Time. – As per Bungie.

• Please Note - Crucible bounties, Exotic Class item quest and Jolly Holliday Quest can no longer be completed in Sparrow Racing

• SRL Ornaments can drop from Post Game Rewards. These do not act the same as the Trials & Raid Ornaments - These change the 'Look' of the armor to match certain Racing Gear.
• Y1 SRL Racing Sets "Bright" and "Jade Rabbit" have zero light and cannot be infused (except for helms). They are also no longer available as post-game drops. Post-game SRL drops the new "Speeder *Set", which accepts SRL Ornaments. Ornament options are "Bright" or "Jade Rabbit". Through this method, players may collect the Jade Rabbit or Speeder sets.
• 3oC can be used successfully and rewards granted at the end of each race (If successful). Please note - These can be used at THE END of a race and reward an exotic as long as it's used BEFORE the *rep appears on the side of the screen confirming the race has ended
• SRL Racing Suits earned from SRL matches have Light and can be infused
• Circuit racing gear obtained from the SRL License Quest now has Light and can be infused
• As per last SRL, SRL armor sets, including Speeder, Circuit, Momentum, feature class-agnostic pieces: Legs, Arms, and Chest. Players can transfer those pieces between characters regardless of class.
• Players can obtain an SRL helmet from Amanda Holliday at Rank 3 (1 per character)
• Players can obtain a Treasures of the Dawning from Amanda Holliday at Rank 5 (1 per character, max 3 per account)
• SGA Pick up the SRL bounties on EACH character daily so if/when you switch character to Rank 5 you will be in a good position to go up faster with more bounties
• Finishing position does not affect the rewards screen (First doesn’t yield better than last etc)

Strike Scoring

As well as the introduction of revamped strikes, we will also see Strike Scoring make an appearance. This will include Point scoring and the awarding of Medals for meeting certain feats such as Killing Sprees and certain weapon combos

• Vanguard Elite Quests - Available from Commander Zavala. Available once per week, per Character.
• Strikes in the SIVA Crisis Playlist, SIVA Crisis Heroic Playlist, and Weekly Nightfall now award Medals and feature Strike Scoring
• First weekly completion of the Nightfall provides 1 Skeleton Key per account (NOT per character)
• Zavala is now offering 3 weekly bounties (1 Nightfall, 2 for Strike Scoring playlists – Weekly Elite Bounties)
• Gear will drop up to Light Level 400 from completed Bounties
• The Bounty Robot is now offer 6 daily bounties named Vanguard Elite Bounties which surround feats within Strike Scoring playlists offering Rep and Experience similar to regular Bounties
• 3 Strikes have been reprised: The Nexus, The Shadow Thief, and Will of Crota.
• SIVA Crisis and SIVA Crisis Heroic Playlists now include all platform-available Strikes

• Your Spree medals can be minutes apart in between getting the next one to accumulate to a Rainbow Medal - To get one - Get a Primary Spree, Special Spree & Heavy Spree.
• Time Bonus points are 25 base points + 25 per second left
• There are 7 medals that count for All the Medals in the Competitive Spirit Record Book. The record All The Medals can only be met by receiving the following medals from completing Vanguard Strikes in a playlist activity: Bronze Tier Achieved, Silver Tier Achieved, Gold Tier Achieved, Time Bonus, Brutal Efficiency, Flawless, or Indestructible.

Quality of Life Changes

• Brother Vance will now offer Passage Coins in exchange for Motes of Light.
• The Gunsmith will now re-sell the Stillpiercer, Immobius, or Susanoo. You can repurchase these weapons from him for Legendary Marks.
• Skeleton Keys drop rates have been slightly increased in the SIVA Crisis playlist, SIVA Crisis Heroic playlist, and weekly Nightfall
• Players will now receive a Skeleton Key for their first account Nightfall clear per week (So NOT 1 per character)
• The Student of History Trophy/Achievement or Sigil of the Young Wolf Emblem for attuning all of the Rise of Iron Artifacts glitch has now been resolved (Yet unknown how this will resolve - Will emblem auto award or be in kiosk? Same for the Achievement / Trophy)
• Players will receive free gifts during each week of The Dawning event, which can be collected from the Postmaster. Confirmation Required - Yes there are daily gifts (Confirmed here) BUT there are reports of 'Weekly Rewards' from the Postmaster. I am now wondering if we get a 'Daily Gift' and a 'Weekly Treasure', the 'Weekly Treasure' being what you would buy from Eververse, the 'Daily gifts' being different entirely in loot and what we get everyday - I'm still looking to confirm - The Daily Gifts will be the Presents we have seen

• Green Engrams will AUTOMATICALLY dismantle into Weapon Parts and Armor Materials (Confirmed to be triggered once you hit Level 40)
• Eververse will be selling ‘The Dawning’ Treasure boxes which will contain cosmetic items and a new armor set ONLY available through the boxes
• Ornament Kiosk to be added and SPECIFIC Ornaments can be purchased and saved in the Kiosk for future use (No confirmation if this Included Bad Juju which you can only obtain from Radiant Treasures for now)
• Ornaments will be able to be purchased SPECIFICALLY and will not be locked behind RNG in Treasure Boxes
• Xur will stop selling ornaments. The kiosk will sell all past event ornaments for 25 silver per. The price will not change regardless of you having obtained the ornament or not. Xur will stop selling ornaments due to this.
• Skeleton Key Drop Rates are to be INCREASED
