Exotic Shard is an Exotic Material. It is used to unlock Upgrade Damage for Exotic weapons and Upgrade Defense for Exotic armor.

Obtained By

• Dismantling Exotic Weapons and Armor. 1 for un-upgraded item and 2 for fully upgraded item.

• Purchased from Agent of the Nine for 7 Strange Coins.

Used For

• Unlocks Upgrade Damage for Exotic Weapons.

• Unlocks Upgrade Defense for Exotic Armor.

• Upgrades base Attack and Defense for old Exotic weapons and armor. This must be performed at Agent of the Nine.

• After House of Wolves, it unlocks Ascend perk for Exotic weapons and armor. Ascend perk increases weapons to the highest Attack (365). It increases armor to the highest light and Defense. Note that perks and experience earned on the gear do not reset after upgrading.
