Tips and Tricks

The bounty for this gun is a brutal one. In the second to last part, you have to earn kills with void damage in the crucible with special/Heavy Weapons. You'll lose points if you die by any means. Baring the quite frankly cruel bounty, this gun is amazing. It tears through enemies like they're made of tissue paper. Even the sound it makes when it's focused is great. It has quite a slow reload like most Hand Cannons but its so powerful that its unlikely anything will be left alive when you reload. The range is quite remarkable, you can easily pull headshots from a very safe distance. I can kinda see why they want to reduce the range with the 1.1.1 update when using the Thorn. Hopefully the update won't nerf this gun as its one of the best. Also it covers quite a bit of the screen when sprinting because its so large

History

Thorn was buffed in Update 1.1 on December 1, 2014. Updates for Thorn included the following:

  • Projectiles now briefly highlight targets on impact
  • Mark of the Devourer DoT (damage-over-time) upgrade increased against PvE enemy targets
  • Reload Speed increased
  • Magazine Size increased (from 6 to 9)
  • Ammo inventory size increased
  • Stability and Weapon Handling increased

After the release of The Dark Below, Attack of the weapon was increased from 274-300 to 302-331. Players can upgrade old versions of the weapon into the new one by visiting Xur and paying 1 Exotic Shard and some Glimmer.
