Iron Banner is a PvP Event that appears in The Crucible 1 week at a time. In Iron Banner matches, the level and gear of the players are NOT normalized, players with higher levels and better weapons and armor will have the advantage in Iron Banner.

Iron Banner events consist of 6v6 Control mode matches. Your reputation rank with the Iron Banner will reset after each week long event. Each event will feature different IB Weapons and Armor for sale by Lord Saladin.

• Player's Attack and Defense stats and their Light scores do matter in Iron Banner.

Participate

• Players can access the Iron Banner under its specific playlist nodes. One of the nodes can be found in the Director at the bottom left of the screen and the other under Crucible.

• When available, Iron Banner runs from Tuesdays at 2:00 AM PST / 5:00 AM EST / 9:00 AM UTC through weekly reset. For future availability, follow the Bungie Weekly Updates for announcements.

• Iron Banner requires a level 40 character. The minimum recommended Light is 230.

Iron Banner Reputation

Players can earn Iron Banner Reputation by winning Iron Banner matches and completing Iron Banner Bounties. Each bounty earns the player between 75 to 200 reputation points. Player also earn 50 reputation points for winning a Iron Banner match and 0 points (but 1 Medallion of Iron) for a loss. Medallion of Iron converts to 40 points each upon the next win. Players can have up to 5 Medallions at a time. As the week go on, players will have an increasingly more powerful Tempered Buff automatically given to the player that multiplies reputation points gains (starting at 10% on Tuesday and scaling to 150% on Monday).

As the player's Iron Banner Reputation increases, they will be able to purchase Iron Banner Weapons, Armor, Emblems, Class Armor, Shaders from the Iron Banner Vendor.

• Iron Banner Shaders, Emblems and Class Armor give a stacking 10% buff to reputation gain each. Players can gain 30% more rep by equipping all 3 items.
• Each of the equipable item buffs provide the same 10% reputation increase (i.e. the "Million Million" shader unlocked at IB Rank 1 provides the same buff as "Goldspiral" shader unlocked at Rank 5)

With Shader, Emblem and Class Armor items equipped, players can earn 30% buff to reputation gains, providing 15 additional reputation points per game win, 12 per loss (on turning in medallions), and 37 for each completed bounty.

• Iron Banner gear and equipables are able to be kept and used outside the Iron Banner. Players are advised to save their Iron Banner shaders/emblem/class items for use during future Iron Banner events to begin with an increased reputation buff.

Medallion of Iron

While winners of Iron Banner matches will earn Iron Banner Reputation. The losers of the matches will gain a Medallion of Iron. Players can carry up to 5 Medallions. Each Medallion converts into 40 additional reputation points upon the player's next victory in the Iron Banner. In essence the rep from each loss is equivalent to 80% of a victory.

Tempered Buff

In Year 2, Tempered Buff is applied automatically. The buff increases the player's Iron Banner reputation earned. The reputation bonus depends on the day of the week. The further into the week the more reputation players will gain from the buff.

Primary Weapons can be purchased from Iron Banner Vendor at rank 5. Special and Heavy Weapons can be purchased from IB Vendor at rank 4 or higher. Each weapon cost 25 Legendary Marks. They can also drop from Iron Banner matches at any rank.

Iron Saga Armor drop after Iron Banner matches at any rank. They can be purchased from Iron Banner Vendor at rank 3 and higher. Each piece cost 25 Legendary Marks. Note that Year 3 versions of Old Iron Banner Armor (Year 1 and 2) are dropped after matches and decrypted from Dusty Iron Engrams.

Emblem Rewards

Players can purchase an Iron Banner Emblem from Iron Banner Vendor for 1000 Glimmer each if they are at least Rank 1 with Iron Banner. By having a IB Emblem equipped, the player will increase ANY Iron Banner reputation gain by 10% (for a IB win, or turning in a IB bounty).

Shader Rewards

Players can purchase a Iron Banner Shader from Iron Banner Vendor for 1000 Glimmer each if they are at least Rank 2 with Iron Banner. By having a IB Shader equipped, the player will increase ANY Iron Banner reputation gain by 10% (for a IB win, or turning in a IB bounty).

Ship Rewards

Birth of History - Randomly dropped in Iron Banner matches.

Smokehouse Six - Randomly dropped in Iron Banner if the player is Rank 3 or higher with the faction.

Iron Banner Bounties

In Iron Banner, Lady Efrideet offers 4 Weekly Bounties. Each bounty gives 5000 EXP, 750 IB rep, Iron Banner Weapon or Armor not featured by the vendor and a chance for a Iron Banner Artifact, Shader or Emblem.

Year 1 Iron Banner Weapons became unobtainable after the release of The Taken King.

Each weapon can be purchased from Iron Banner Vendor for 7000 Glimmer. Primary Weapons require Rank 5 while Special and Heavy Weapons require Rank 4.

• Weapons (only from the previous Iron Banner) have a chance to drop at the end of IB matches after you've reached Rank 3 with IB.

Note that you will not obtain any Ascendant Energy from dismantling Iron Banner Weapons.
