A Sword Reforged is a level ?? The Taken King and Exotic Quest. Players are awarded with Raze-Lighter, Dark-Drinker or Bolt-Caster, Exotic Swords, after completing this quest. Players can obtain this quest from Lord Shaxx, after Infuse their Arc Edge, Void Edge or Sol Edge to 280 or higher Attack and fully leveling it.
  • Note that players will keep their Legendary Sword after completing this quest.

Step 1: Honing the Edge

Task: Use the Sword against powerful servants of the Darkness, and test it against Guardians in the Crucible.

Quote: "A scrap of ragged steel will cut down weeds. A sword such as this demands worthier challenges." —Lord Shaxx

Objective: Obtain 50 Major Kills. Obtain 25 Guardian Kills in the Crucible

Rewards: Vanguard Reputation, Crucible Reputation, Experience

Tips: Kill 50 Majors in the world and 25 players in Crucible with a Sword. In Crucible, without heavy ammo you sword deals 122 damage, the same as a normal melee attack. If you have no ammo, jump and hit someone and the second you land swing again. Landing cancels the recoil animation and you can get 2 quick swings off.

Step 2: Test Your Blade

Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx.

Quote: "The sword's Light is stronger, but its Darkness lingers. too. Perhaps Lord Shaxx will know how to purify it entirely." —Ghost

Objective: Go to The Last City, Earth.

Tips: ???

Step 3: Blade of Night

Task: Draw out and defeat Ecthar, Sword of Oryx, in the Asylum on the Dreadnaught.

Objective: Go to Asylum in Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn, kill Ecthar, Sword of Oryx

Rewards: Vanguard Reputation, Crucible Reputation, Experience

Tips: Head to The Founts area in Dreadnaught Patrol. (Go through the Cabal ship and then furthest exit on the left). Drop down the first hole in the ground and circle round until you find the entrance to the middle room. Head to the back of this room and you will see 3 Warden knights with different elemental shields, weaken em. Kill all 3 Warden Knights with 1 Super. The massive door will open, allowing you through to the Asylum. Kill all the enemies until Ecthar runs at you. His shield can only be damaged by your sword. Remember to make use of the Swords Guard ability.

Step 4: Blade of Day

Step 1: Essential Elements

Task: Gather rare materials and attune your Light.

Quote: "Your Solar Edge is strong, but we can make it stronger. I'll need soliton flares, found within helium filaments on the Moon. In the mean time, you must practice your Solar powers." —Lord Shaxx

Objective: Obtain 10 Rare Planetary Materials. Obtain 500 Solar/Void/Arc ability Kills.

Rewards: Vanguard Reputation, Crucible Reputation, Experience

Tips: The required rare planetary material depends on your sword's element, Solitron Flare from Helium Filaments for Solar. Spinmetal for Arc. Relic Iron for Void. Farm the desired material in the correct patrol. Rare material drop rate seems to be between 5% and 10%. Chests do not give these materials. Players need to harvest at least 100 planetary materials for the 10 rare ones.

Step 2: In Good Temper

Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx.

Quote: "Though considered quite valuable, soliton flares actually form due to malfunctions in old solar coils. If the flare isn't removed in time, the coil can sustain serious damage." —Ghost

Objective: Go to The Last City, Earth.

Rewards:

Tips: ???

Step 3: Armsday Alloys

Task: Wait for delivery of Armsday materials. (That next Wednesday)

Quote: "The alloys Lord Shaxx requires are listed in Cassoid Foundry's next Armsday shipment to the Tower. Good timing!" —Ghost

Objective: Go to ??.

Rewards:

Tips: Wait until the next Armsday Order (next Wednesday).

Step 4: Take Up Arms

Tips: ???

Step 5: Sealing the Blade

Task: Defeat Adleg, Warden of Oryx, and then Alak-Hul, the Darkblade, within 30 seconds to seal your Sol Edge.*

Quote: "The Wardens you seek are infamous devourers of the Light. Each has its own heinous preference. Together, they guard the Sunless Cell, where Alak-Hul, the Darkblade, languishes." —Eris Morn

Objective: Defeat Defeat Adleg, Warden of Oryx in Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn. Defeat Defeat Alak-Hul, the Darkblade in Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn.

Rewards: Raze-Lighter/Dark-Drinker/Bolt-Caster, Experience

Tips: Do Light 300 Sunless Cell strike with Epic modifier. Kill Warden Knight with the same shield element as your sword and then Alak-Hul, the Darkblade within 30 seconds with your sword. When you get to the boss room look for the warden you need to kill but don't kill him right away you have to keep him alive until Alak-Hul's health is low, after that kill the warden then Alak-Hul quickly.

  • If you have the Sol Edge, you need to kill the Warden Knight with solar shield then Alak-Hul within 30 seconds. You can kill the 2 other wardens first.
  • In reference to sealing the other swords, my assumption is that the element coordinated person is who must be killed alongside of Alak-Hul, meaning if more than one type of sword is in the fireteam the mission must either be done multiple times or with great care as you must keep two to three if the champions alive alongside of the Darkblade.

Step 6: A Blade Reborn

Task: Speak to Lord Shaxx.

Objective: Go to The Last City, Earth.

Rewards: Raze-Lighter/Dark-Drinker/Bolt-Caster
