Iron Banner is PvP Event where the level and gear of the players are NOT normalized. Unlike The Crucible, players with higher levels or better weapons and armor will have the advantage in Iron Banner.

• Player's Attack and Defense stats and their Light levels do matter in Iron Banner.

Iron Banner consist of 6v6 Control mode. The first Iron Banner event began on October 7th, 2014 and lasted until October 14th, 2014. Periodically, Iron Banner will become available again, 1 week at a time. Your reputation rank with the Iron Banner will reset after each event. Each event will feature different IB Weapons and Armor for sale by Lord Saladin.

• You need to be at least level 20 or belong to a fireteam with a level 20+ leader to participate in Iron Banner.

Iron Banner Reputation

By participating in Iron Banner and completing Iron Banner Bounties, players will earn 100 Iron Banner Reputation. Player earns 50 reputation points for winning a Iron Banner match and 0 points (but 1 Medallion of Iron for a loss, which on the players next win will be removed from the inventory and given 40 IB reputation for each (up to 5). As the player's Iron Banner Reputation increases, they will be able to purchase Iron Banner Weapons, Armor, Emblems, Class Armor, Shaders from the Iron Banner Vendor.

• Iron Banner Shaders, Emblems and Class Armor give a stacking 10% buff to reputation gain each. Players can gain 30% more rep by equipping all 3 items.
• Each of the equipable item buffs provide the same 10% reputation increase (i.e. the "Million Million" shader unlocked at IB Rank 1 provides the same buff as "Goldspiral" shader unlocked at Rank 5)

With Shader, Emblem and Class Armor items equipped, players can earn 30% buff to reputation gains, providing 15 additional reputation points per game win, 12 per loss, and 30 for each completed bounty. Players can further increase their reputation gains using the Tempered Buff, which provides an additional 15% to 150%. buff depending n which day the Iron Banner is being played.

• Iron Banner gear and equipables are able to be kept and used outside the Iron Banner. Players are advised to save their Iron Banner shaders/emblem/class items for use during future Iron Banner events to begin with an increased reputation buff.

Medallion of Iron

While winners of Iron Banner matches will earn Iron Banner Reputation. The losers of the matches will gain a Medallion of Iron. Players can carry up to 5 Medallions. Each Medallion converts into 40 additional reputation points upon the player's next victory in the Iron Banner. In essence the rep from each loss is equivalent to 80% of a victory.

Tempered Buff

Players can gain a buff that increases ANY Iron Banner Reputation gains for 12 hours by talking to Iron Banner Vendor. The reputation bonus depends on the day of the week. The further into the event the more reputation players will gain from the buff. Tempering cost 1 Mote of Light.

Reforge

Players can change the perks of their Iron Banner Weapons by reforging them. Players can talk to the Gunsmith and spend 2 Motes of Light to reforge their weapons. After reforging, all of the perks on the weapons are randomly re-rolled. Reforge will reset all the purchased perks and exp earned on a weapon.

Note that players will not be able to upgrade their previously earned weapon into a higher tier of Attack. For example, players cannot upgrade their weapons with 300 Attack obtained from before The Dark Below expansion into a 331 Attack weapon obtainable after the expansion.

Weapon Rewards

Each weapon can be purchased from Iron Banner Vendor for 11500 Glimmer. Primary Weapons require Rank 5 while Special and Heavy Weapons require Rank 4.

• Weapons (only from the previous Iron Banner) have a chance to drop at the end of IB matches after you've reached Rank 3 with IB.

Note that you will not obtain any Ascendant Energy from dismantling Iron Banner Weapons.

Armor Rewards

Each Armor piece cost 5000 Glimmer and players need to be Rank 3/4 with the Iron Banner. Note that you will not obtain any Ascendant Shards from dismantling Iron Banner Armor.

Players can purchase Class Armor from Iron Banner Vendor for 4500 Glimmer each if they are at least Rank 4 with Iron Banner. By having a Class Armor equipped, the player will increase ANY Iron Banner reputation gain by 10% (for a IB win, or turning in a IB bounty).

Emblem Rewards

Players can purchase an Iron Banner Emblem from Iron Banner Vendor for 1000 Glimmer each if they are at least Rank 1 with Iron Banner. By having a IB Emblem equipped, the player will increase ANY Iron Banner reputation gain by 10% (for a IB win, or turning in a IB bounty).

Shader Rewards

Players can purchase a Iron Banner Shader from Iron Banner Vendor for 7500 Glimmer each if they are at least Rank 2 with Iron Banner. By having a IB Shader equipped, the player will increase ANY Iron Banner reputation gain by 10% (for a IB win, or turning in a IB bounty).

Ship Rewards

Birth of History - Randomly dropped in Iron Banner matches.

Smokehouse Six - Randomly dropped in Iron Banner if the player is Rank 3 or higher with the faction.
