Awoken

The Awoken were created when The Darkness attacked The Traveler. Following The Darkness' colossal offensive, the humans wilted against the devastation. A few humans survived, fortunate enough to avoid demise. Most people were wiped out as soon as the attacks began. Few others were able to get away from the onslaught of The Darkness, but barely. People who were able to escape from the Darkness but were afflicted with it became the the Awoken. The appearance of their skin transformed into a light blue colour and their irises were whitened by the Darkness. a number of the Awoken moved to Earth following the Collapse, abandoning their compatriots near the wreckage of conflict.
Upon arriving on Earth, the Awoken promptly joined the Humans and the Exo in the construction of the City and the Tower, becoming members of the Guardians. Outside of Earth, many Awoken still reside in The Reef, alongside their mysterious Queen.
