The human race developed on Earth through the millennia. Gradually the humans became technologically advanced enough to become a space-faring race. On a mission to Mars, the mankind found the mystical being, The Traveler, a monolithic sphere of immense power. Through the Traveler's assistance, the mankind entered its Golden Age. Average human's life expectancy tripled, their scientific innovations progressed magnificently, and most importantly the humans expanded to other planets. The mankind established towns and cities throughout the solar system. During this period, the humans designed a race of humanoid machines called the Exo. Exo is a race of self-ware and powerful robots ingrained with all the combined knowledge of the entire human race.
Humans experienced their Golden Age for quite some time, however the good times suddenly came to a close as the Great War began. Attacking abruptly with great violence and authority, The Darkness swiftly destroyed human populations throughout the solar system. The Darkness killed tens of millions of humans in its legendary battle against the Traveler. Approaching extinction, the humans were forced to return to Earth to seek shelter from the shielding aura of the Traveler.
Confronting its nemesis, the Darkness ravaged the Traveler, almost wiping it out. In its final counter attack, the Traveler momentarily overcame The Darkness. It created the energized warriors called the Guardians to combat The Darkness. Additionally, the Traveler created Ghosts to assist them in their battle. Constrained to The City, the Guardians unleashed explorations from The Tower, while preparing for the ongoing battle against the Darkness. Their ultimate quest is to find a way to revive the Traveler.
