Unlock

Blighted Chalice is unlocked by completing At the Gates, a quest that is received from Variks after Dread Patrol has been completed. It may thereafter be accessed from the Director by selecting its icon on The Moon.

Boss

Players will face a Taken Knight known as a Malok, Pride of Oryx.

• Threes of Coins apply to this boss.

Mechanics

This boss fight features multiple phases gated by damage inflicted. The boss' method of attack changes with each phase.

• Phase one (Boss HP is above 75%): The boss uses a Hive Boomer to attack. These attacks are functionally identical to those of a Hive Knight.
• Phase two (Boss HP is at 25% - 75%): The boss' attacks will begin to mimic those of a Taken Knight.
• Phase three (Boss HP is below 25%): The boss' attacks will begin to mimic those of a Taken Centurion. Note that five Axion Darts will be summoned with each usage.

In addition, the arena is divided into three sections, each with its own Taken Blight that is re-summoned each time the boss' HP is reduced by 10%. When these Blights reappear, their attendant adds (Taken Psions, Taken Vandals, and Taken Captains) are re-summoned as well. Note that by leaving the Blight in the center safe room intact, Taken Phalanxes will not reappear once they have been killed for the first time.
