The Guardians are the characters controlled by the players. They're sophisticated warriors assigned to defend the final city on [[Earth]]. Guardians are also responsible for studying the remains of [[human]] civilization left behind throughout the solar system. Their goals are to uncover the secrets of the [[Golden Age]] of voyage, exploration and discovery.

Guardians are player characters divided into 3 classes: Titan, Hunter and Warlock and 3 races: Human, Awoken and Exo. The class chosen by the player will determine the player's abilities, stats and playstyle. The race has not effect on gameplay or stats. Race is merely a cosmetic choice.
